Women’s Special Weekend at Lavasa
Hello People !!!!
This post of mine is special as it is dedicated to every woman who is a part of my life or even those whom I really don’t know; because it about Women’s Day, celebrating a day specially meant for women. Well honestly I believe that every day is Women’s day. But thinking about it from a bigger perspective it is very significant as it reminds everyone that there is lot of work to be done towards reaching gender parity. This day generates awareness ,traction and funding for real issues women around the world are facing, that are otherwise ignored. Hence from a personal perspective as well I do believe this day needs to be glorified without any contemplations.
To mark this occasion and celebrate Womanhood, Hindustan times organised two days event in the beautiful and scenic city of LAVASA calling it as Women’s Special weekend and I was lucky enough to be a part of it as an official blogger.
Women in huge number from teenagers to sexagenarians from various parts of Mumbai were part of this spectacular celebration. Some had come with their girl gangs while some were first timers to travel other city without their families or friends. It was a mix of women from home makers to varied working professionals and all coming with one idea in mind that was to have some ‘Me – Time’ .
The journey started early morning on 4th of March from Mumbai . With full excitement and high energy reflected in everybody’s eyes and talks, soon they arrived at the luxurious Fortune Select Dasave – hotel by ITC group in India’s first planned hill city – Lavasa. After a very warm welcome, they were ushered to enormous buffet spread at Zodiac which is their in-house restaurant. Post lunch they freshened up in no time and headed for the city tour of the picturesque Lavasa. The sight seeing was arranged in a custom designed luxury AC buses which made it even more comfortable. They took a few pit stops in between for some group pictures with scenic locations in the background and then reached for water activities at lakeshore water sports.
Inspired by the Italian town Portfino, a street and several buildings in Lavasa bears the name of that town. There were several tourist attraction spots like panoramic landscape views all around, adventure sports, water sports, Warasgaon lake enhancing the beauty of the city. Apart from various hotels and resort options, when it comes to living, city provides wide variety of residential properties, hospital add other medical facilities, international university for education etc.
With sunset, city looked even more stunning. Evening went more special and glamorous as all were dressed in their best for the much awaited celebration which was held in the magnificent lawns of fortune hotel. There were balloons shooting, selfie corner with funky props, live caricature and nail art booths to just start with. RJ Urmin from fever 104 was the host of the evening. Highlights of the event were the Mentalist Akshay Lakshman who kept the crowd awestruck and enthralled at the same time and comedian/actor Gaurav Gera who tickled the funny bone with his live interaction with the audience till the very end. This was one of the events where women unknown to each other sat together, interacted, laughed and had fun leaving all
Soon after the live performances, music kicked in and all danced like no one was watching and enjoyed like no one was judging. Climate was perfect and breezy with occasional chill pills which you can never get in Mumbai in this month of the year
Next day morning started early with warm up and then Zumba, yes Zumba you heard it right with Daniella Gomes. It was a houseful show even after sleeping late, all geared up with their sports shoes and sweated out for about 1-2 hrs. The sumptuous breakfast at the zodiac was satisfying after all such hard work 😉
After getting ready all assembled in the spacious banquet hall on the first floor of fortune hotel for the finance management lecture conducted by Mukund Sheshadri. The lecture gave deep insides of managing and investing our finances in accordance of our life goals.
Next was my personal favourite. There was a workshop on self defence techniques by Kiran Upadhyay who is seventh degree black belt holder in taekwondo. She demonstrated some unbelievably easy tactics to escape unwanted situations and we also practiced it of course without breaking anybody’s bones . Although now everyone who attended knows it 😉
Lastly there was a very informative talk given by Dr. Shishir Shetty about breast cancer awareness. He explained how important is early detection and every women post 45 yrs should monthly self examine and should get mammography done every two years.
Yes…. there were so many things in such a short span of time. Cheers to the organisers for conducting and successfully managing the event. From start to the end they always had a smile on their face, easily approachable and ever ready in case of any help. I was very impressed with hospitality offered by Fortune hotel. The stay was as comfortable as one could have imagined it to be. The staff was very humble and professional. I remember there was a lady who fell sick in middle of the night and they were there to help in less then 5 minutes. Looking forward to be a part of more such events. And Lavasa city was so mind blowing that I am surely gonna go back really soon !!!
Hope you enjoyed reading as much as I did writing !!
